Sue turned around.
He was gone.
This isn’t right, I must leave this place asap.
She ran down the stairs as quickly as she could, and stopped abruptly when she reached the stairs landing. Standing in front of her, was the policeman in the 60’s police uniform.
“S…ir… are..n’t…. you… ”
The policeman fell face down.
Now, she was facing the masked murderer, whose gun was still emitting smoke from the previous shot.
She stood transfixed with fear.
But he was oblivious of her. He turned and walked away, leaving the policeman to bleed to death.
Did I… just witness a murder? Sue was too frightened to move.
Just then, the policeman began to crawl… slowly… up the stairs. Sue watched him intently.
He tried to reach for a piece of paper from the upper steps. However, before he could reach it, he died lying on the stairs, exactly the way Sue had first discovered him.
Sue finally found the strength to walk towards him. She reached for the paper.
It’s his family photo!
When she turned to him again, he was gone.
She headed for the exit immediately.
She ran with all her might to the camp fire, and told her friends what had happened. They went to the woods to look for the cave, which was nowhere to be found. No one believed her.
It had been days since Sue returned from the camp fire. The image of the dead policeman still lingered in her mind.
It’s definitely not a dream. The photo is still lying in my drawer!
Sue decided to search the library archive for murder of policeman. No record found.
Then she chanced upon a site listing dead and missing policemen. There’s a missing policeman in the 60’s named Tan Ah Lim! It could be him!
She sought for help at the police station.
After several days, she received a call from a police officer, who claimed to be the son of the missing policeman.
Sue met up with that police officer at the police station. She told him about her strange encounter, and showed him the photo. He was convinced.
Then they went to the woods, together with some policemen and the police dogs.
Suddenly, a police dog began to bark furiously at a spot near a tree.
They began to dig.
Soon, they unearthed a skeleton, dressed in the 60’s police uniform, with the name on the tag… Tan Ah Lim.
